Biography

Woodwind Specialist Clay Steiner is dedicated to exploring the endless possibilities of music in today’s society. Steiner is an advocate for a diverse musical scene extending into classical, jazz, contemporary, pop, and musical theater genres. He is always searching for ways woodwind instrumentalists can push the boundaries. 

With international appearances in Korea and Canada as well as performances across the US, Steiner is making a name for himself in the musical theater scene. His most recent theater credits include the 25th Anniversary National and Korean Tour of “Chicago” as well as the Second National tour of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. Steiner’s regional credits also include "In the Heights", "Cabaret", "Three Penny Opera", "Jekyll and Hyde", "Big: The Musical", and "Sister Act".

Steiner remains active as an ensemble, chamber, and solo performer as well. He has appeared with the Milwaukee Jazz Orchestra, Sheboygan Symphony, Water City Jazz Orchestra, and Present Music; as a soloist with the Oklahoma City University Wind Ensemble, Oklahoma Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Symphony Band; and has presented recitals at the North American Saxophone Alliance National Conference, Navy Saxophone Symposium, and National Flute Association Convention.

In addition to his dedication to performance, Steiner is an enthusiastic educator. While on tour, he maintains a private studio of virtual students and has enjoyed presenting masterclasses at universities in Memphis, Houston, Milwaukee, and Madison. He has also coached students and provided educational clinics at high schools across Southeast Wisconsin.

Clay Steiner holds a Master of Music Degree in Multiple Woodwind Performance from Oklahoma City University, as well as a BFA in Multiple Woodwind Performance, and a minor in Business from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
